Maurice Vellekoop gets the centre spread treatment.

Now showing! “Cockadoodle: The Erogenous Art of Maurice Vellekoop”

The show in Manchester, England is a flamboyant new exhibition of Maurice’s contribution to illustration, underground comics and contemporary erotica. This is Maurice Vellekoop’s first European solo exhibition with a wide selection of his erotic work on show alongside examples of his mainstream editorial work. The exhibition comes at a moment of renewed significance for Maurice as he embarks upon a graphic memoir, I’m So Glad We Had This Time Together! commissioned by the Canadian Council for the Arts and edited by author and award-winning art director Chip Kidd, to be published by Pantheon Books.

The exhibition is supported by a programme of events and activities that address notions of private shame, empowerment, sex-positivism and the often overlooked role of personal fantasy in critical cultural appreciation.

Cockadoodle: The Erogenous Art of Maurice VellekoopThe show is at Twenty Twenty Two in Manchester, England from 15 August to 13 September 2014. The show will move to a Liverpool venue and dates will be announced soon.

Curated by Bren O’Callaghan, is supported by Arts Council England, Manchester Pride and Homotopia Liverpool.

Louis Fishauf’s Digital Collage

RE:flex #1 is the first issue of a planned annual publication produced by Colour Innovations in Toronto. Each issue will showcase the work of selected artists and photographers, as well as Colour Innovations’ advanced printing capabilities.The first issue features a portfolio of Louis Fishauf’s digital collage works, including pieces produced over the last decade, as well as new collages created especially for this project. The portfolio will be launched at an invitation-only event at the Spoke Club in Toronto, on October 30, 2014.

The 24-page portfolio, is being printed at Colour Innovations’ Toronto plant on an 11-colour Heidelberg 40″ Perfector press, utilizing Colour Innovations’ patented CIX metallic ink printing process. The paper, courtesy of Ariva, is Sappo HanoArt gloss cover and text. Printed with Metalstar® Pantone® premium silver ink, courtesy of Ekart, a leading international manufacturer of metallic pigments for the graphic arts industry.

50.2014 An Exhibition of 50 Artists

To launch their new gallery enterprise, INDEX G is presenting 50.2014, an exhibition of 50 artists. The gallery invited 25 artists to exhibit a piece of work and asked each of the 25 artists to invite one other artist to exhibit a piece as well.  The result is 50 works by 50 artists.

If Walls Could Talk at The Gladstone Hotel

Tonight at the Gladstone Hotel is the opening of curator Leila Courey’s If Walls Could Talk, a juried exhibition of experiential illustration that features work by emerging and established artists. The show is on public display at the Gladstone Hotel from March 6–16, 2014. The projects use illustration and other art forms related to it, to occupy and alter the hotel’s 2nd floor gallery and public spaces.
